The Civic Trust is setting up the Special Interest Groups embracing all members (and others), local and national, focussed on place shaping to complement the geographically based Civic Societies and organisations associated with them locally. The purpose is to increase cross membership participation based on subject matter areas of expertise. In a survey conducted in 2007 85% of societies identified heritage and culture as a main theme of their society work.
